Esperanza - week 4 More... [ world ]

A diplomatic mission leaves in two courier vessels to attend the disarmament conference on Joyeuse.

New terrorist outrages destroy Naval fuel facilities. Esperanzan Freedom Army claims responsibility.

The “Esperanzan Freedom Army” (EFA), a terrorist organisation which is believed to have extensive support from the Joyeuse government, today made an official statement (by unmarked video-chip to all major TV stations) that;

“As the new government of our world is even more repressive than the last, and since the Navy is the principal instrument of that repression, we consider that all Naval installations and personnel are legitimate targets in our war against repression. As it is our wish to preserve the lives of as many innocent civilians as possible, we will target the main thrust of our new campaign on the refueling and refining facilities which keep the Oppressors’ ships in our skies.”

Although most stations obeyed government directives to turn over such messages to the authorities, some did show the message. It was transmitted to perhaps 30% of the world’s population.

Three hours after the messages were broadcast four fuel tankage areas and two refinery complexes at various sites across the planet were damaged or partially destroyed by bomb blasts. Millions of credits of damage were caused.

A police spokesman said that extra personnel were being detailed to protect such facilities. The culprits are still being sought.

This week a wave of terrorist bombing hit jump drive factories across the planet. Seven had production lines extensively damaged by fuel-air explosive devices. Production is expected to be held up for several weeks whilst repairs are made. The EFA has claimed responsibility.

Massive blast destroys jump-drive factory. 1000’s dead! Government blames terrorists.

Today a massive explosion vapourised a jump drive factory on the outskirts of the capital city. The explosion is believed to have killed in excess of 3000 people, mostly jump drive workers and Naval Staff. 20000 are reported injured in the worst terrorist outrage this century. The blast, which is believed to have been caused by a jump drive being activated whilst attached to the crystaliron building framework, shattered windows up to 80km away. A spokesman said, “There is no chance that this could have been an accident, the safeguards are just too failsafe.” The EFA has declined to comment.

A New Colchis courier brings news of the detainment of the Orphée patrol in the New Colchis system. New instuctions for the patrol to go via Joyeuse are issued and carried back via New Colchis courier.

Fleets 1, 3 and 5, the majority of the Esperanzan Navy, leaves the system. This is a huge decoy mission whose purpose is to flush out enemy espionage agents.
